LIFE medCLIFFS Watch List
The LIFE medCLIFFS Watch List consists of a total of 39 species of non-native ornamental plants that show evidence of their invasive or potentially invasive character.
It has been created and agreed by a Working Group of fifteen external experts as well as the technical staff of LIFE medCLIFFS.
These species are not banned or listed in current legislation, but in order to minimise their spread they MUST BE AVOIDED IN AREAS CLOSE TO NATURAL HABITATS, in particular on the coastal cliffs of the Costa Brava.
The most problematic species within the scope of the project include:
Through the LIFE medCLIFFS Observers and Volunteering Networks (action C2), biological and ecological data are collected on these most problematic species.
These data are essential to assess the state of invasion on the Costa Brava and Cap de Creus, as well as model the risk of invasion of each species and improve its future management (action C1).
